Legal Practice Council extends periods for public participation and comments due to the National Lockdown

The Legal Practice Council would like to inform all interested persons that due the national lockdown it will be extending the time frame for comments and participation on the following: –

• The Legal Practice Council National By-Elections 2020, for the election of 2 advocates to the LPC. The voting period was opened on 25 February 2020 and was meant to close on 6 April 2020, but now will close 14 days after the official end of the national lockdown.

• The draft criteria and procedures for the conferment of Senior Counsel and Senior Attorney status. The time for comment will now also close 14 days after the official end of the national lockdown.

• Draft guidelines for applications for accreditation to present practical vocational training structured programmes, which were gazetted on 3 April 2020. Comments were invited within a period of 30 days from publication of the notice, but this period but will now be extended to 17 May 2020
