Legal Practice Council welcomes the appointment of Legal Services Ombud
The Legal Practice Council (LPC) welcomes the appointment of the Honourable Justice Sirajudien Desai as the Legal Services Ombud in terms of Section 45 of the Legal Practice Act No. 28 of 2014.
Chairperson of the LPC Ms Kathleen Matolo-Dlepu said: “We would like to thank both the Honourable President Cyril Ramaphosa and Minister of Justice and Correctional Services Ronald Lamola for this appointment and we would like to wish Judge Desai all of the best in this new role which is critical in ensuring that the legal profession as well the LPC serve members of the public with the correct ethics, impartiality and in line with the Act.”
The Legal Services Ombud in terms of the Legal Practice Act, is empowered to investigate complaints, alleged maladministration, within the scope of the Act, and actions which may affect the integrity of the legal the profession.
