LPC saddened by the passing of Mr Robert Legh
The Chairperson of the Legal Practice Council, Ms. Kathleen Matolo -Dlepu notes with sadness the passing of Mr. Robert Legh, the chairman and senior partner of Bowmans who passed away last night.
As the chairperson of Bowmans and previously as a partner of the firm, he championed many transformation initiatives and supported many causes. One of which is CAOSA, which regularly hosted its debates and panel discussions with stakeholders on access to justice at Bowmans offices in Sandton.
The Council would like to convey its sincerest condolences to his wife Kathryn Gawith, and two children, as well as his friends, and the entire legal fraternity in South Africa.
Mr Legh was a very knowledgeable legal practitioner who also led the establishment of Bowmans ‘pro bono and CSR initiatives’ which is headed up by a lawyer dedicated specifically to this, with a detailed report on the entire firm’s contribution at the end of each year.
His loss will be felt by many within the profession who have had interactions with him. He made an invaluable contribution to the profession and will be sorely missed.
