ELECTION OF PROVINCIAL COUNCILS: SECTION 23(4) OF THE LEGAL PRACTICE ACT, 2014 AND (RULE 16)

Pursuant to the election of members of the Legal Practice Council (LPC), it is necessary for the LPC, in terms of Section 23(4), to initiate the elections of the Provincial Councils, as provided for in Rule 16 of the LPC Rules and the Regulations promulgated under Section 109(1)(a) of the Legal Practice Act, 2014.

It was resolved by the Council that, having regard to the procedures to be followed, and to make necessary provisions for electronic voting, it is not possible to immediately proceed with the elections. It was therefore agreed that the elections be held in early 2019.

The relevant dates will be advised to practitioners in due course.
