Completion of the outstanding parts of the admission examinations written before 1 November 2018 in terms of Rule 21.4, 21.6, and 21.7
The Legal Practice Council would like to inform all candidates wishing to qualify to be admitted and enrolled as an attorney or advocate and who have not passed all the competency-based examinations that they have three years from the date referred to in section 120(4) of the Legal Practice Act to successfully complete the outstanding parts of the examination, failing which they will no longer have the right to be examined or assessed on any part of those examinations.
The three-year period for the completion of the outstanding parts of the examination, provided for in Section 14 of the Attorneys Act and the examinations conducted by the General Council of the Bar or any other Society of Advocates contemplated in section 112(1)(a)(ii) of the Legal Practice Act, comes to an end on 1 November 2021.
Persons affected by these provisions are hereby reminded and encouraged to register this year in order to successfully complete the outstanding parts of the examinations.
